The Difference Between Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma
Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma XC are both popular nonsurgical fillers from Allergan, the makers of Botox. Cosmetic or dermal fillers help give your face a fuller, smoother, more youthful look. They can be done in a doctor’s office in just a few minutes, and there is almost no recovery time. Here are some of the differences between Juvederm, Voluma, and other fillers.
The Best Placement
Juvederm Voluma is designed to be injected deep in the dermis and to lay right on top of the facial bones. It works best when it’s injected into the upper cheek, the middle cheek, or the chin. It adds a lifting, volumizing effect to the upper and mid face areas, which are often more difficult to treat. With age, skin, fat, muscle, and bone tend to lose volume, causing a thin or hollow appearance around the chin, cheeks, and cheekbones.
Voluma restores volume, provides contouring, and smoothes out wrinkles. It’s the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based filler designed for these specific facial regions. Voluma can’t be used under your eyes, in your lips, or in the lines between your nose and mouth, also called nasolabial folds. Juvederm is best for these areas. Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in your skin. It’s synthesized without animal components in a lab. Juvederm is softer than most other cosmetic fillers, which makes it the best dermal filler for lip injections.
JUVÉDERM® is the #1 selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the US. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers adds volume to a different area of the face to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, or plump the lips. The results are subtle and long-lasting.
What is Juvéderm™?
Juvéderm™ is the only HA filler with FDA approval to last up to one year. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a “next-generation” smooth consistency gel dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smoothen facial wrinkles and folds like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds – the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Juvéderm™ comes in two formulations—Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus.
What does Juvéderm™do?
Juvéderm™ injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face.
What is Juvéderm™indicated for?
Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus injectable gels are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis (below the outer layer of skin) for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases running from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth, aka smile lines or parentheses).
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvéderm™ allows us to administer it easily and smoothly. And, Juvéderm™ is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Our physician may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.
